Volunteering has been part of my life since I was young and I share that passion with my daughter. I started volunteering with Volunteer Terrace in September of 2014, became the Community Engagement Coordinator in November of 2014 and am now Volunteer Terrace’s Executive Director. My previous volunteer positions have included: Volunteer Interviewer for the North Shore Community Resource Centre, Mock Interviewer and Mentor for the North Shore Multicultural Society, and Volunteer Manager for the North Shore Spirit of BC.
I currently volunteer as a Facilitator for Terrace Restorative Justice, and am involved with many events at Volunteer Terrace. I was previously employed in the retail business, managing several franchises in the Vancouver area.

I consider myself to be a people-person, with a curiosity for the social sciences. I am interested in the way people come together to accomplish projects, the nature of those interactions, and the experiences that people walk away with. My background has involved working with youth in areas of education and outdoor recreation; I also hold a Bachelor of Arts & Social Sciences, as well as a Certificate in Liberal Arts from Simon Fraser University. In this role, I hope to use my training to build volunteer capacity, encourage community health and empower youth.

In the past 2 years I began making a change in my profession, moving from trades work to social work. For 10 years I worked as a steamfitter/plumber in the commercial and industrial sectors. After growing and gaining some life experience, I decided it was time to enroll myself in the Human Service Worker program; with the goal of a BSW. My time in the trades helped my see various parts of the world including: Canada, the UK, parts of Europe, South America and the U.S. Through the cultures I’ve experienced, the impressions many people have made on me, and the education life has produced I aim to take all of it and use it to help give back to the community. In time, I also aim to integrate my love for nature and learning into my practice.
