Organizations that need and use volunteers:

  • Better at Home: friendly visiting for seniors, grocery shopping, transporting seniors to appointments
  • Canadian Cancer Society  various
  • Canadian Red Cross: various
  • City of Terrace Fire Dept: first respondents
  • Girl Guides/Scouts: leadership roles
  • Happy Gang: helping seniors
  • Heritage Park Museum: Halloween Howl, Easter Egg Hunt, St. Jean Baptiste Day, and Canada Day
  • Kalum Community School Society (KCSS): Food sustainability
  • Kimmunity Angels: Various one-day community events along with ongoing Sunday Market opportunities
  • Ksan Society: Food Share Fridays, Kitchen Volunteer, Community Garden, Cook at Transition House, Donation Room and Store, Special Events
  • MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), community leader position
  • Mills Memorial Hospital Auxiliary: working in the thrift shop
  • Red Cross Loan Service: Health Equipment Loan Program
  • REM Lee Hospital Foundation: Special events
  • Riverboat Days: Variety of positions throughout a two week period, typically the last week of July and the first week of August
  • Salmon Run (Kitsumkalum): One day event, volunteer positions include timekeeping, water stations, and parking, barbecue and kitchen helpers
  • Skeena Diversity: Special events
  • Skeena Valley Fall Fair: A variety of positions such as gate/tickets, kid’s activities, exhibition hall, ticket sales and many more.
  • TDCSS (Terrace District Community Services Society): Community Living Room, Soup Kitchen
  • TDIA (Terrace Downtown Improvement Association): Street Festival – greeters, set-up and tear down, garbage patrol (recycling), helping with children’s events such as painting and crafts
  • Terrace and District Arts Council
  • Terrace Animal Shelter: Visiting with the animals, dog walking etc
  • Terrace Beautification Society: Worker bee projects such as  upkeep of community flower beds.
  • Terrace Church Food Bank: various positions available
  • Terrace Hospice Society: Visiting programs and grief groups *
  • Terrace Library: Reader’s home services
  • Terrace Little Theater: Variety of positions
  • Volunteer Terrace: Fall clean up
    • Spring and fall yard cleanup blitz* (up to twice per year)
      • The yard clean up program helps seniors  clean up yard waste before the snow if they struggle with  physical disabilities or restrictions. Volunteers can be anyone who wishes to help to make seniors’ homes cleaner and pleasant. Volunteers to assist qualified, pre-approved residents  are matched with  neighborhoods

        • In adequate physical shape and capable
        • Availability: as needed, with requests being weather dependent.
  • Volunteer Terrace Snow Angels:

    The Snow Angel program helps seniors  clearing snow, with eager volunteers from our community.

    Snow Angels respond to requests made to Volunteer Terrace by seniors who are unable to shovel their own snow due to physical disabilities or restrictions.

    The Snow Angels can be anyone who wishes to volunteer to make seniors’ homes safer. Volunteers to assist qualified, pre-approved residents  are matched with  neighbors

    • In adequate physical shape and capable of clearing snow
    • Availability: as needed, with requests being weather dependent.

        We create volunteer opportunities to address community needs and to inspire youth for a lifetime commitment to service. We are 1 of 2 Canadian YVC affiliates and proud to offer a youth-driven program that conducts frequent, supervised, team-based service projects that address issues in a way the youth see fit.

**Some organizations have a minimum age requirement of 18.**
