EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

+ Tracey Davidson

Tracey has been working at Volunteer Terrace for 10 years, in the role of Executive Director for 9 of those 10. Tracey was born and raised in North Vancouver.

Tracey moved to Terrace, with her daughter Grace, from North Vancouver where she worked as a retail manager in West Vancouver, she also volunteered all over North and West Vancouver for a variety of nonprofits, including being a volunteer manager and recruiter for the 2010 Legacy Now, a provincial initiative recruiting just over 500 volunteers for special events and venues in North and West Vancouver during the 2010 Olympics.

Tracey has been a Restorative Justice Facilitator for the past 11 years, was a board member for Volunteer BC, a board member for Terrace Riverboat Days Society.

Tracey enjoys working with many community partners and the public in Terrace and the outlying communities.

ADMINISTRATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SUPPORT

+ Grace Davidson

Grace recently started as our Administration and Community Engagement Support. She has lived in Terrace with her mom, Tracey who you may know for 10 years. Grace enjoys listening and playing music as it gives her peace and she always feels like she is learning from it.

Grace is working on bringing back the Youth Volunteer Corps group that we had running previously in 2017. When COVID-19 occurred, it had ended many volunteer opportunities. She was once one of the youth in YVC and was on the International Youth Advisory Board that would meet every month with members across the country.

Grace is interested in pursuing YVC here in Terrace because she believes it’s important for youth to have this experience. YVC has proven to develop a substantial amount of skills and allow youth to grow as people. She has taken Mental Health First Aid for Youth training as she believes it’s crucial to understand the youth that she is working with. She wants to be a support system for them, and for YVC to be a safe atmosphere for everyone.

SENIORS PROGRAM COORDINATOR

+ Lori Beauchamp

Lori is our current seniors program coordinator, and has worked with us in the past. She has enjoyed living in Terrace since 2013, after growing up in Ontario. Lori received a diploma with honors in Mental Health & Addictions Counselling and has worked for several years with adults with disabilities, both as front-line staff, and management.

Lori shifted her focus to seniors more recently, with hopes of seeing the City of Terrace become more age friendly while promoting aging in ones home. When asking Lori about her time with us she said, “The best part is obviously the people I get to work with, both clients and staff. The environment here fosters growth. I couldn’t believe that time when I was accepted into the United Way’s Public Policy Institute. I learnt many valuable things from so many great leaders. I continue to use that knowledge in the workplace all the time!”

In her spare time, most of Lori’s focus is on her two children, and husband. They enjoy spending time outside, especially in the summer months. Lori loves to wind down by watching a Marvel movie, going to a concert, or sitting by a fire.

RESTORATIVE JUSTICE PROGRAM DIRECTOR

+ Alex Blum-Walker

Alex moved to Terrace from Smithers 5 years ago and comes to the Terrace Restorative Justice Team with a wide variety of experience both through his career and volunteerism. Alex currently works for Community Living BC as a Facilitator after having worked as an Employment and Assistance Worker for the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction, a Case Manager for Work BC, and a Community Housing Program Manager for a local service provider to adults with intellectual disabilities. Alex has spent his time since graduating from UNBC in Prince George gaining valuable experience working with underprivileged and overrepresented demographics in the justice system. Having worked with youth and adults with substance use issues, mental health struggles, and intellectual disabilities, Alex has gained experience that proves invaluable for his position as Restorative Justice Program Director.

In addition to his diverse career, Alex has been volunteering extensively with local and surrounding Special Olympic programs. Alex is currently the Local Coordinator for Special Olympics in Terrace, taking over the position shortly after moving to Terrace from Smithers where he was on the executive committee there as the Volunteer Coordinator.

“I owe a lot of my career and the opportunities I have had to Special Olympics because I originally went to university to study Environmental Studies. When I finished University, I had a lot of free time so I was looking for a meaningful way I could help my community and I stumbled on the local Special Olympics group. I was quickly hooked and the experience and growth I have been through as a coach and organizer for Special Olympics has given me the confidence to look at the social work field more realistically as a career. I am happy with the choice I made, and plan to continue to volunteer with Special Olympics long into the future.”

Alex was recently a planning committee member for the 2023 Provincial Restorative Justice Symposium that was held in Richmond in June. This symposium brought together people from not only British Columbia, but from California, Washington, and Maryland as well.

In addition to working for CLBC and Volunteer Terrace, volunteering with Special Olympics and Restorative Justice Association of BC, Alex also sits on the Board of Directors for Volunteer BC, an provincial organization that aims to assist and promote volunteerism across the province.

Alex connects with the values and ideas of Restorative Justice extensively after seeing how often people fall through the cracks of different systems, be it judicial, societal, or governmental. Alex is always looking for new and exciting ways to help people, and when given the opportunity to bring his perspective and experience to this role, he jumped on it. Alex looks forward to being able to grow the Restorative Justice program in Terrace.
